I wanna be a singer like Lou Reed.

As is often the case, I’ve needed a vacation to recover from my vacation. And with how non-stop life has been lately, slowing down just hasn’t been possible. Between training, teaching, being perpetually busy at work (plus spending last week getting caught up), and running all over the city (in a heat wave) in an effort to be a good partner and help as much as possible with an intense finding-an-apartment/packing/moving process, I’ve had no time to myself and hence no time to relax, recover, or even make an attempt to preserve my sanity. Not to mention the fact that my apartment is a mess, and I can’t remember the last time I did laundry or bought groceries.

Even though they “shouldn’t” (I like to believe I’m the kind of person who can be surrounded by mess once in a while), these things all add to my perceived level of stress.

Why is it so much work to take a vacation???

Oh, and have I mentioned that I'm allergic to cats? Yeah, well, I've been spending a lot of time around one lately, which requires that I keep myself constantly drugged in order to ensure that my airways remain open and my lungs continue to function. Fun. Of course, the drugs have their own effects, not to mention the fact that they don’t work 100%, so whenever I’m running I’m perpetually dealing with the remnants of cat exposure working their way through my system. Couple that with the extreme heat and 100% humidity (which also effects my breathing), and I’m really not sure why I’m bothering with this marathon bullshit.

Yay, bitching and moaning. As much fun to read as it is to write.

Anyway, at this rate, I’m not sure I’ll feel caught up and back in control by the time I take another week off in August.

Wait, this is August, isn't it...

I am really allergic to cats, too. Do you find that people think you are exaggerating? You'd never tell someone who was allergic to strawberries to eat one, yet people with cats always expect you to come around them.

I'm itching just thinking about it. I hope my eyes don't swell shut, too.

Hey stranger! I am SO with you. I feel like I've been sent through a shredder and taped back together. In my case I need another real vacation because the good feelings from last one were sucked away in my first hour of returning. I think the whole world should just take a week's vacation. Let's all just go to the beach and forget all our troubles. Though that might actually be a better Middle East and African Peace strategy than others floating around out there. Hmmmm, maybe I'm onto something REALLY BIG here.
p.s. are you wearing a blue plaid shirt today?

why yes i am, stalker!

kidding, kidding. hey, let's catch up over a beer.

blood ray, i totally know what you mean. i've been becoming more and more frustrated over the complete lack of consideration i receive... so whatever. i'm guess i'm just going to have to take matters into my own hands and just cut down on how much i put myself in cat-infested situations.

I've had to do that, too. One of the first things I ask a potential suitor is whether or not he has a cat. If he does, there's really no point in going forward. It's not even just taking allergy pills, it's having to wash every single thing you've worn in the cat house; it's having to make sure that the guy is wearing clean clothes and has freshly showered before he gets in your bed; it's having to wash those sheets right after in case there is any cat residue, etc.

Someone recently said to me that it might be time for me to start thinking about seeing an allergist about it. I think not. I don't really care to have my cat allergy cured, because I don't particularly like them as it is.

Of course, just following up on this. Well, you seem to walk by me oblivious to those around you. You wizz by and then I think it's you and then not sure. OK, fine... yes I'm stalking you. LOL! Kidding -- or am i?

p.s. looking good btw.
