Shake it up baby, now.

What a great weekend. Details will follow when I have more time (crazy week, which is now reduced to just three days) but suffice to say I had a great time getting away and exploring Chi-town with dear friends. I’d never been before, and we had a lot of fun. (Despite the blisteringly hot weather, for which we did not pack appropriately.)

Highlights included (aside from exploring the city, its architecture, and its art):

*good food, wine, and conversation at Quartino (a.k.a. Mario Batali light)

*a $1000 meal at one of the city’s best restaurants (I really am poor, I swear!)

*super buttery, greasy, yummy popcorn

*seeing and catching up with an old friend and his new girlfriend

*Chicago-style pizza

*Chicago-style hot dogs (I know I don’t usually eat meat, but an exception was made... When in Rome, you know?)

*meeting and hanging out with this blogger, and embarking on a night-long impromptu bar crawl, which brought us here, here, here, here (where some karaoke was performed), and here (where some sleazy dancing was engaged in); and then running into him randomly on the subway the next morning. he’s even more fun than I expected him to be, and he is now required to move to NYC pronto

*bizarre altercation with pedi-cab driver outside one of the bars

*talking to this other blogger via cell phone while hanging out with his bloodiness

*awesome sex (sorry, just had to throw that one in there)

As I said, more details to follow (not about the sex, though). But damn, looking over that list, it’s abundantly clear how much I like to eat and drink. Whew. Excuse me while I go for a run.

It was a lot of fun hanging out with you guys. When time and money allow, I'd love to make a trek east. I've only lived here for three and a half days, so give me some time before I'm required to move again.

And they're called pedi-cabs? I still like to think of them as rickshaws. That driver was weird and not just because he didn't like the Blood Ray.

A $1,000.00 meal?
Jeez.
If I had known this I would have visited with you sooner...

It was great to finally talk to you -- and I was dead serious about some sort of summit meeting in Chicago, where we discuss important world issues such as "How much vodka can we ingest before we turn into potatoes?"
